How to Get More Player Anthems in Rocket League: 7 Easy Proven Tips

You just scored a last-second overtime hat trick to win your ranked series, the entire lobby is spamming quick chats, and then the generic default piano anthem starts playing. It’s a total buzzkill, right? If you’ve ever wanted to stand out when you find the back of the net, learning how to get more player anthems in Rocket League is one of the easiest ways to make your playstyle feel uniquely yours. For anyone who doesn’t know, player anthems are the short, 10 to 30 second music clips that play for every player in the lobby the second you score a goal. I’ve been playing Rocket League on and off since its 2015 launch, and I’ve unlocked almost 120 anthems over the years, so I’m breaking down all the legitimate ways you can build out your collection without wasting credits or falling for common scams.

How to Get More Player Anthems in Rocket League via In-Game Events

The single easiest way to rack up dozens of unique anthems for free is by participating in Rocket League’s regular themed in-game events. These run every 2 to 3 months, and cover everything from Halloween’s Haunted Hallows to winter’s Frosty Fest, summer’s beach-themed events, and big crossover events with franchises like Stranger Things, Fast and Furious, and even WWE. Each event comes with its own dedicated event pass, filled with free rewards for players who complete event-specific challenges. Event challenges are 100% free to complete for all players, you don’t need to buy the premium version of the event pass to get at least 2 to 3 anthems per event. The premium pass usually adds another 3 to 4 exclusive anthems, but only buy it if you like most of the other rewards included, like car bodies, decals, and boost effects. A lot of event anthems are limited-time exclusives, so if you hear a track you love during an event, make sure to grind those challenges before the event ends. I still kick myself for missing the classic “Running Up That Hill” anthem that dropped during the 2022 Stranger Things crossover, so don’t make the same mistake I did. Once an event ends, those anthems almost never come back to the game, so they’re a great way to get rare tracks that newer players won’t be able to unlock later.

Unlock Anthems Through Rocket Pass Tiers and Challenge Rewards

Even when there’s no special themed event running, you can still unlock new anthems through the regular seasonal Rocket Pass and weekly, daily, and seasonal challenges. Each non-event Rocket League season runs for roughly 3 months, and the Rocket Pass has 2 to 4 anthems scattered across both free and premium tiers. Free players will usually get 1 to 2 anthems just by leveling up their Rocket Pass to tier 70, which is easy to hit just by playing a few matches a week. You don’t even have to grind that hard, since every match you play gives you Rocket Pass XP, and challenges give you huge XP boosts to level up faster. Weekly and seasonal challenges often have anthem rewards that don’t require Rocket Pass purchase, so make sure to check your challenge tab every Tuesday when new weekly challenges drop. A lot of new players skip over daily challenges because they feel too small, but stacking them up leads to fast unlocks, including rare anthems you can’t get anywhere else. Some of the most common challenge types that reward anthems include:

  • Win 10 casual or competitive matches in any playlist
  • Score 25 goals with a specific car body, topper, or decal equipped
  • Play 15 matches with at least one friend in your party
  • Complete 7 daily challenges in a single week

You don't have to play competitive to unlock most challenge rewards, casual matches count for almost every challenge, so you can grind while playing with friends without worrying about your rank. If you’re stuck on a specific challenge, you can always team up with friends to make it easier, too.

Purchase Limited-Time Anthems from the Item Shop

If you’re looking for specific anthems, especially ones from real-world artists, the rotating in-game Item Shop is your best bet. The shop refreshes every 24 hours with new common, rare, and exotic items, and featured limited-time items rotate every 48 hours. Anthems in the item shop usually cost between 100 and 300 credits, depending on their rarity and whether they’re part of a crossover. Collaboration anthems from real artists are almost always sold exclusively in the item shop, so if you’re a fan of a specific musician, keep an eye out for crossover drops. Psyonix has released anthems from artists like Imagine Dragons, Marshmello, Megan Thee Stallion, and even K-pop groups like BTS in the past, so there’s a good chance you’ll find a track that fits your taste eventually. If you see an anthem you like in a bundle, always check the total cost first. Bundles often include anthems along with decals, boost effects, and car bodies for a lower total price than buying each item individually, so they can be a great deal if you want multiple items from the set. I once spent 200 credits on a generic EDM anthem only to get the same one as a free challenge reward two weeks later, so trust me when I say you should always check your active challenges and existing collection before you spend any credits on anthems.

Redeem Free Anthems via Promo Codes and Twitch Drops

There are also a few less common ways to get free exclusive anthems that many new players don’t know about, starting with official promo codes. Psyonix releases these codes occasionally to celebrate game anniversaries, big crossover launches, or esports tournament wins. You can redeem these codes on the official Rocket League website for free items, including anthems, decals, and boost effects. The only catch is that codes expire pretty quickly, usually after a few weeks, so you have to act fast when one drops. The other great free method is Twitch Drops. All you have to do is link your Rocket League account to your Twitch account, then watch official Rocket League streams (like RLCS matches, developer update streams, or official partner streams) during eligible drop periods. Twitch Drop anthems are often exclusive to broadcast events, so you can’t get them anywhere else even if you want to spend credits. I got my favorite RLCS championship anthem last year just by watching the grand finals while I ate dinner, so it’s a totally passive way to get free rewards. A quick warning: stay far away from any third-party sites that claim to give free anthem codes or unlimited credits. Almost all of these are scams designed to steal your account information, so only use codes posted on official Rocket League social media accounts or the official website.

At the end of the day, building a big collection of player anthems doesn’t have to cost you a ton of money, or even take that much extra effort. Most of my favorite tracks came from just playing the game a few nights a week with friends, and grinding event challenges when I heard a track I liked. You don’t have to buy every single anthem that pops up in the item shop to have a fun, unique collection. Whether you want silly meme tracks, popular pop songs, or hard-hitting EDM to play when you score, learning how to get more player anthems in Rocket League is a fun way to make your time in the game feel more personal. Just remember to check your challenge tab first before you spend any credits, and don’t fall for fake code sites that promise free exclusive items.
